To fit the 3 cm MK 103, it was necessary to use the wider Tiger turret ring. Being belt-fed, rather than magazine-fed, loaders became superfluous during combat, allowing for a smaller turret. This was significantly higher than the practical rate of fire of 150 rounds per minute of the 3,7 cm Flak 43 of the Ostwind. The theoretical rate of fire of the MK 103 was 900 rounds per minute, with a practical rate of fire of 480 rounds per minute. The guns were mounted in a semi-spherical, fully-enclosed turret. In early 1944, Daimler-Benz presented a new design, still based on the Pz Kpfw IV, mounting a dual 3 cm MK 103, originally designed by Rheinmetall-Borsig as an aircraft gun. The turret was taken from a submarine design, in which fully-enclosed spherical turrets had been designed to replace the unprotected deck guns, but because of the inherent differences between tanks and submarines, the idea was dropped. The gun was to be manufactured by either Brünn or Rheinmetall-Borsig. The idea first appeared in late 1943, when it was suggested to mount a dual 30 mm anti-aircraft gun on a Pz Kpfw IV chassis. The last, and most advanced, Flakpanzer based on the Pz Kpfw IV chassis to be build was the Kugelblitz (ball lightning). This is an album that embraces you, while you embrace it.By Christian Ankerstjerne - Last modified Contents We need more songs about peace, love, understanding, and communication. In this day and age I welcome any album as peaceful as Local Honey. Perhaps a rethink of the last cover is in order, but otherwise this is a brilliant album. She can also interpret songs as well, turning them into her own. Zotz has a great deal of talent and can write some fine songs. There is more than enough variety of styles to keep the listener interested, and the album has a beautiful flow to it. The album is full of great songs, such as the second single, “Good Bones” (co-written by Bryan WIlliston), “Pirouette” and a beautifully arranged version of the Christmas carol “All Through The Night”, which makes one wish she might consider a Christmas album. It is a remarkable song, lyrically and musically. The song continues with Zotz personifying ‘peace’. Then there are songs such as “Peace Sweet Peace”, which starts with finger snaps, piano and almost a mantra “ Peace, sweet peace/Peace, sweet peace”. Zotz is looking to create a tranquil and peaceful album reflecting her contentment and love in her life. Lyrically, the album is focused around peace and love. Zotz has help on the album - former Two Roads Home member, Bryan Williston (guitar), Gary Craig (drums), Tom Serstis (bass, percussion), Chris Saunders (guitars), Chris Rawlings (guitar, recorder), Alana Bridgewater (backing vocals), Jim Hodgkinson (piano), Dan Gooch (flugel horn, keyboards), Seana Lee Wood (guest vocalist), and co-producer Steve Sherman (guitar). “See Your Face” would be the perfect way to end the album. It is arranged and produced perfectly and is simply brilliant. “See Your Face” is a beautiful melody and has very emotional lyrics that tear at the heart. Quite frankly, the only misfire on the album is the cover of “You’ll Never Know”, which is a beautiful song, but just does not fit and is somewhat anticlimactic after the stunning “See Your Face”. Zotz is able to bring all the genres together to form a fantastic and cohesive album. It is hard to actually define her music, as it has strands of pop, folk, cabaret, Broadway and country. Local Honey has been a long time coming and was an obvious next step for Zotz. This is Zotz’s first solo album, and although it seems to be coming late in her career, it has the feel of a true debut. That band featured Bryan Williston, who co-wrote four songs on this album, Local Honey. She has formed and participated in several bands since the 1980s, released one album with MadriGALS, and two albums with the band Two Roads Home. Music has taken her on paths she may not have imagined, but it has been a big part of her life. Abby Zotz has been making music for most of her life.
